Today we found Cold Cache (GC3DF1 - 11/4/2006). It's been almost 2 years since the last find, but it is still there and doing great. The hike isn't too bad from the new gravel road, but it gets a little overgrown in spots. This is a great cache that deserves some more finds Smile

I'm not going back. Nice easy hike from the top of the mmountain... Try from the parking area at the bottom of the mountain.

Glad to hear the road is open.

Congrats to TeamGeoduck for finding Road to Nowhere, Sigmanu1896 for finding Brother Where Artthou, and Whittling Fisher for finding Cold Cache!

So it's time for a new list. Since it looks like GCW6XF No Long-Term Parking is not there the loneliest cache in Georgia is now:

1) Hayride in the Valley GCGQHC by Bad Dawg 83. It was last found on 11/04/2006 (2 years ago today!) by JPlus14, Kepnfit, and Deermark.

and the rest of the list is:

2) Wrestlers Have 'em, Others Play With 'Em GCMWKY - 11/10/2006
3) The hard way GCWHDM - 1/2/2007
4) Floyd High5 GCK4T8 - 1/20/2007
5) Cache#1, Lake Burton GC56A - 1/28/2007
6) Wrong Way Cache GCV9Z3 - 3/24/2007
7a) The Dude's Letter Box GC7DFC - 3/31/07
7b) Band of Brothers GC2037 - 3/31/07
8) Riverboats and Railroad GCJ7EQ - 4/14/2007
9) Die HardSports Fan GC10N15 - 4/19/2007
10) Pocket Full of Change GCMTKP - 5/17/2007

Just 2 caches left from 2006! Have fun and Good Caching to Ya!!!

I thought I'd take a look where these are in the state - I'm headed up to the mountains in a couple weeks. Anyway, it seems that the geocode for #6 is wrong, it ought to be GCV9Z3 & further that one has been taken off line because it's gone.
Still, though, I just might see if I can make a go for GCGQHC in a couple weeks if I can squeeze the time out of the weekend. I won't be too terribly far away!

Thanks, Doc, for keeping me straight on my mistyped GC# but the cache is still an active cache although I suspect it is gone and the owner hasn't replied to my question and maintenance request on the cache page.

Time to redo the list again, T1. "Hayride in the Valley", GCGQHC, was found today. And this is the first time ever that this cache has been found by Georgia cachers. To top it off, it was found by two of the oldest geezers around!

I was on my way up there to check up on it this morning until I got THE call. Congrads to the 'Ol Geezer club for ending the caches state record setting run of 5 years, 2 months and 13 days.

Most on the list are way out of my range, but a couple might be doable - distance wise.
#6 has been archived, and #7a is very questionable.
Am looking ofrward to the updated list.

Unfortunately, it's gonna be a few days before I can redo the list - between being on the road in NC and my computer going Tango Uniform and waiting on the company to send me another I can't acess the list right now.

My apologies for the wait.

Strangely, my PQs seem to have not pulled all the caches, since I am missing a few of the ones in the top 10. That said, I have updated my list, and I think I can probably provide the list in your stead (at least for now) Thorny, if you want.

Thanks, MG, I appreciate the help with this. Having lost GSAK (along with everything else on my laptop) it's going to take me a little while to get back up to speed with this. Not to mention the 30 something puzzles I had solved but not hunted yet Crying

I don't know if anyone in the group can do this for you or if this is an option, but I've worked with a company that can pull your files off of your hard drive, depending on what died on your computer. It does cost, of course, but I have done that myself. They just burn it to DVD or CD. Best Buy can even do that I think, but I used a computer consulting firm that we work with for mine. It was nice to get my files back.

The list, as I have it, appears to be as follows:

1) Wrestlers Have 'em, Others Play With 'Em GCMWKY - 11/10/2006
2) The hard way GCWHDM - 1/2/2007
3) Floyd High5 GCK4T8 - 1/20/2007
4) Cache#1, Lake Burton GC56A - 1/28/2007
5a) Band of Brothers GC2037 - 3/31/07
5b) The Dude's Letter Box GC7DFC - 3/31/07
6) Riverboats and Railroad GCJ7EQ - 4/14/2007
7) Die HardSports Fan GC10N15 - 4/19/2007
8) Pocket Full of Change GCMTKP - 5/17/2007
9) Seldom Seen GCHT7B - 5/20/2007
10) Still the Wrong Way GCV9ZR - 7/5/2007

Also, in position number 5, I show this cache, although I removed it from the list since it's really more of a travelbug than a cache...

Geocaching Nut Traveling Cache GC22FE - 3/24/2007 (Since this cache appears to be missing, and is a travelling cache, it may not qualify for this list)

# 6 Die Hard Sports Fan is only lonely for lack of being found. It has been visited PLENTY! It's just that stage 3 cannot be found by several cachers during multiple visits. Many attempts have not even been logged since it is just so aggravating. Sneaky

Cache, responsibly.....

My understanding is that problems with the cache being found notwithstanding, as long as the cache is active and it's not a travelling cache, it's still among the loneliest caches in the state.

Time to re-do the list again. Smiling in Acworth and I found "Pocket Full of Change" (GCMTKP) today. By the way, this is a tough cache but it's extremely well done and one that I highly recommend.
