There are as many different kind of cachers as there are caches. We are all in it for just as many reasons... It's so hard to pinpoint just one.
Let's take a look at many different aspects of the game and find out what people like most about each one. We'll start out in the shallow end... and maybe we'll get a little deeper with each poll.

There are no right or wrong answers - Except for all of the above - So that will not be offered.
For some people this question is easy... I know a couple of cachers out there that do every single puzzle that crosses their path.
Some absolutely love Earthcaches. They do other caches most days, but they really enjoy that occassional Earthcache.

For those not so lucky to have that obvious passion... a little bit of reflection on your favorite caches is in order. Why did you love doing that cache? What made it your favorite(s)? Then see where it fits in the poll.

A nice by-product of that little exercise is ... memories of some caching fun!
Feel free to tell us about why you love those types. It may spark someone else to look at those types a different way.

Remember this is all for fun, so play nice. So comment away.

Question:
What Type of Cache is your favorite to do?

Choices:
Virtual / EarthCache
Standard - Reg / small / large / other
Micro's / Nano's
Multi's
Wherigo's
Mystery or Puzzle Caches
Events - Mega - CITO - Meetings

I'm a brand-new geocacher, so I've only braved the "traditional" caches so far...the ones at a 1/1 level, at that. All five of them that I've found so far - LOL!

I do want to try all of the various other kinds of caches - mystery/puzzle ones, and earthcaches. But that's some time on down the road, when I've got a better handle on things. Smile

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen (St. Francis of Assisi)

I like multi's but don't seem to do a lot of them.
I'm wanting to get into Earthcaches but the nearest is an hour away from me. There is one in south GA I'm going to do and I might make it my first if the timing works out.

I have to say the old standby Traditional - but a good puzzle is a very close 2nd!

My favorites are . I love the "AHA!" moment of a good puzzle. And the caches themselves tend to have better swag.

Traditional. Finding an ammo can at the end of a great adventure so I can leave something for the next brave soul produces the best caching experiences for me.

This is a tough one. I guess I'll have to give my vote to traditionals though. It's always fun finding an ammo can after a nice hike in the mountains. My second favorite would have to be puzzles (at least the ones I eventually solve Smile). That AHA moment when you finally figure it out is always nice.

Ok I know you said it wasn't a choice but I would have picked the "all the above" option. I really do like *all* types of caches for different reasons. But since I had to pick just one, I chose Virtual/earthcache because I especially enjoy caches that are educational.

That's exactly why "all of above" wasn't an option... Most of us "like" to do all types of caches. I wanted to know which type gives you that extra little boost of joy, grabs your attention first and draws you in.
Your answer was great!

I can fairly say that I like all types of caches. Tho, I am not a huge fan of Puzzles (because mostly - unless pointed in the right direction ... I don't "see" the solve) and Micros (do I really need to explain). But there are some puzzles and micros that I have really enjoyed. But mainly, I get a cold chill when I see the icon for a puzzle and tend to not look at them for quite some time. Same thing when I see the size designated as micro.

I really like virtuals and earthcaches for the same reason as you. I usually get to see something really cool or actually learn something. Cito's I like because I feel I'm doing something not for myself but for everyone. Meetings to see people, multi's for the challenge, Wherigos - I haven't done one yet, but would like to.

But I am a sucker for traditional that proclaims it is an ammo can at the end of a nice hike. I get all tingly if it's on a mountain. I may not rush out to do it... but It definitely goes on my todo list.

I just wanted to get people to think about the one type that just might spark their interest the very most. And the responses have been awesome!

Thanks guys... lets keep 'em coming.

I guess my first choice is traditional, preferably at the end of a long mtn hike. Snowbird comes to mind and makes me smile. I too enjoy all the others as well and appreciate all who have hidden them for us to search for! Oops, I just realized my example was a multi. Oh well, I guess I like them all.

I prefer the puzzles when I have time to work on them. Do more traditional though because of the "spur of them moment" hunts that normally occur.

Earthcaches first and historical virtual caches second and cemetery caches are third. I love to learn something even if its just knowing where the continental divide is in Georgia or seeing a lost cemetery in an office park or learning about the Mayfield dairy and having a cup of ice cream at the end. And I can honestly say I have seen some beautiful places thanks to Earthcaches in Ireland. Amazing!

For karmabottle we each swear by a different one.
April likes ammos, JR likes nanos, and Eowynn likes micros.
