Bored, so i got the calculator out.
One week into the challenge and the state parks have had 349 caching visitors (including a DNF and a wayward silver bonus visitor) and the logs keep coming. Hopefully, someone at the parks office is watching! Go Dale!

The DNR has assigned 6 demo state parks around the state:
1. Ft. Yargo
2. Kolomoki
3. Panola
4. Unicoi
5. Skidaway
6. Elijah Clark

Those six parks has one etrex you can use.

Before geocaching I played billiards playing in tournaments. One association I was playing in sponsored a tournament with the proceeds going to a local child that had a rare lung disease. All the players gathered on the bleachers in the ballroom one Saturday for the opening announcements and rules. When the opening announcements were spoken they wheeled out the young girl that's on oxygen and said, "lets do our best to help this child out" while the guy next to me lit a cigarette.

This came to my mind when I read this log from one of the Gerogia State Park Caches.

YAY! We did it. Thank God it was low tide while we were there. I can officially be called a murderer as of today. All of us for that matter. There was no way of dodging the Fiddler Crabs and there was some sort of snail on the grass out there amongst the little crabs. Anyway, every little crunch made me want to cry. So here we go, crunching little crabs and snails out across this slimy stinky place and I was the only one that wanted to find a trail this time. This state park kind of had me worried about straying away from the path. No telling what might eat you. We get out to the first little place, do our figuring and head to the next and the daughter spotted it. Very nice! At least it's safe from the water. So we signed and all that jazz and high tailed it out of there just waiting for high tide to come rolling back in like a tidal wave..lol. We had a really good time and I did take some pictures of a male and female fiddler. Separately, in my hand. I think I accidentally pulled their little eye stalks off catching them but that's better than being smashed into the mud like they didn't matter. Thanks for the cache! We really enjoyed earning this one.

Fortunately, the log has been edited. (I urged the geocaching family to do so.) She was apologetic.

Cache, responsibly.....

before I log, I want to say that I hope no one takes offense-I just love GA state parks.
Bill and I have been volunteer campground hosts 7 years.
We have enjoyed it so much that we sold our HOUSE 3 YRS ago and are now living fulltime in our motorhome. As of now, we have hosted in 13 different parks(2 of our favorite fishing 'holes', have now closed)
I am so thankful that the park system has allowed caches and so appreciate the stewards giving their time.
Just THINK of all the family memories that are being made.--because of our addiction-

For those who have already finished the challenge, you are lucky that you have been introduced to new parks and I hope everyone will
"come back and stay a while
=I'll leave the light on" :-) LUV 2 ALL

Better make that "3" on the Gold Bonus. A find was recently claimed that turned out to be a DNF.

It would be neat to see all of the pictures from those who've found all of the caches in the State Parks Geo challenge. Hey, maybe even a whole set of '12' for a special GA Geo State Parks Challenge Calendar?? lightbulb

Don't say you can't, say you'll try.
