As many of you know, "Dead Angle to Brushy Mountain" (GCJ2JG) is a multicache that covers much of the battlefield during the battle of Kennesaw Mountain on June 27, 1864. It starts at Chetham Hill (the dead angle) and ends atop Brushy Mountain next to major, though little known, earthworks on top of the mountain. Today, we reluctantly disabled the cache listing and removed the cache.

Normal access to the cache was via a trail from the corner of US-41 and White Circle. Recently, land clearing began at that corner. A goodly amount of the mountain has been removed and land has been cleared to within 10-20 feet of the beginning of the earthworks. No Trespassing signs have be posted at the work site, effectively cutting off direct access to the cache.

It remains to be seen if the rest of the mountain is going to be "developed" but for now we will keep the cache temporarily disabled.

Isn't progress great?

What a shame! I wondered how much longer that spot would remain undeveloped. "Dead Angle" is/was a great cache - I chose it for my 600th.

That is a shame. Those were the best preserved earthworks I'd seen. Much better than those at Chetham Hill and other places. Maybe because there was no fighting there? It still should have been preserved, not bulldozed for development.
