It appears we are shaping up to have a most excellent weekend in NW Georgia.

Friday Night Future Chief is hosting a Smore Party at Sloppy Floyd State Park.

Saturday we will meet at 12:00 for a hike.

That will end at: Rock Town.

Don't forget to load the Earth Cache also.

Look forward to seeing you all somewhere that weekend!!

A little bird told me you might want to check the area for new hides on the morning of the hike. Or was that a bee? Anyhow, no promises, tho.

On the cache page it says the coosa valley cachers are providing the lunch, but on the gga page it says the cattahoochee valley cachers are providing sandwiches.

Close only counts in Horseshoes, hand-grenades and geocaching.

To someone who has been to Rock Town, how much parking is up there. should we encourage car pooling from down by the main road??

I will have room for 2 from Sloppy Floyd and back.

If your at the Smores Party then some arranging can happen then!!

There should be plenty of parking in the 'lot area'. There is also parking on the in coming road.
There is also a camping area just down the road on top of the mountain past the turn off to Rock Town parking. Also at the bottom of the mountain just past the parking area for Pettyjohn's Cave.
All camping is primitive!

This Saturday is Opening Day for bow hunting season. Rocktown is located in the heart of the Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area.

The Waysiders will be wearing ORANGE.

haha - possibly. Bowhunters normally hunt from treestands. Their effective range is anywhere from 0-30ish yards. They'll see you coming a long way off and know you're not a deer. Dawn and dusk is when most bowhunters will be out.

Can you guess what I'll be doing 9/10? chilly

Rifle hunting is a different story. (but I'll still be hunting with a bow.)

After we all bushwacked from "Rock Town" down to "Rockin' Between the Creeks" every deer up there is probably now in the next county. Blush

Man, that was a fun day!
