DragonFlyDreams and I are going to the 'Biltmore' home this weekend. I'll be interested in any posts here too.

My parents live in Asheville, so we go there often, but generally don't have time for geocaching. Frown

Wanderlust and Laughingmoon are a couple that put out some really great caches in the area, but they've sorta dropped out and most of their caches are history.

God Kissed the Earth and called it Asheville
is one I enjoyed that has just been adopted and restored. Hopefully the others will be too.

The girls and I were up in Asheville early last month for the National Gingerbread contest. Our time was limited, but we found that traveling along NC25 off of I-26 into Asheville provides various quick cache stops along the way. There is a new MD GC in Jenny' Bed and Breakfast and Travel Bug Hotel . I found Barn to be an interestingly difficult cache. Finally, Large Oak or any cache done by NC_Ron&Dianne is a safe bet. As for "memorable", I haven't found one there yet. Perhaps an e-mail to NC_Ron&Dianne will provide a list. My daughter's gingerbread houses are on free display in the Grove Park Inn this month. Look for Bennett's 4th place winner spinning in the teen entries area. 2005 Winners. The 2004 Gingerbread Competition show starts airing on the Food Network on 12/04.

I was in Ashville awhile back and had enough time to do the 'Asheville Crescent'. Hate to say it, but there were none I would recommend.
Sorry.
If you happen to any good ones up there, please post a follow up here. Ashville ain't that far away.

AshEville has its fair share of P&Gs. What sort of caching experiences are you looking for and how much time do you have? The Blue Ridge Parkway goes right through town and there are a bunch of hiking caches with awesome views.

Email me with specifics...

Or you can just log all of mine without having visited them. Wink

well i did have time to do God Kissed the Earth and Called it Asheville. I would recommend this one particularly if you like caches that take you on a tour and give you some history of local spots. the final is in a nice spot that i would not have discovered on my own. there were a lot of micros in the area but i passed them all by. i wanted to go to chimmney rock but there was an ice storm overnight and the wind was really blowing so i figured it was no time to go there.

Chimney Rock! Thank you redworm!

I had brainlocked a while back on the name of that area. DID YOU KNOW (cue SportsCenter song): A good chunk of "The Last of the Mohicans' was filmed there.

Nice hike, too. Too bad about the icestorms though.
