Are you a weekend geocaching warrior? A professional geocacher wanna-be? Or simply someone who can’t get enough of anything caching related? Well, here’s your chance to show everyone what you’re made of. As some of you may have noticed, our June meeting (the 7th anniversary of the GGA) will feature Geocache Olympics.

“What are Geocache Olympics?”, you ask. Good question. The Geocache Olympic games are a celebration and test of the skills needed by all of us who have caching in our blood.

Geocache Events include (although subject to change Smile):
Ammo Can Toss – see who can toss an ammo can the farthest

Nano Log Roll – roll up a nano log and get it in the nano container

GPS Figure “Skating” – each contestant has 5 minutes to create a figure on their track log. Judges determine most creative.

Multi-“Cache” Run – a 5-stage run where each contestant must correctly enter the next stage in their GPS. All coordinates must be correctly stored in GPS in order to win.

ROT13 Decryption – decrypt a ROT13 encrypted paragraph without the aid of the key.

Skirtlifter Dash – run to the skirt, lift it, find micro, sign and date log, return micro and skirt, run back.

So start flexing your geocache muscles and come prepared for the trials of your life.

Stay tuned for more details.

From what I understand all the men on the board will be wearing their kilts that day. I guess you will finally get a chance to find out what is worn under the kilt!! I never did care that much for skirt lifters..

Well I guess that is ONE way to cut the attendance (and maybe the competition) in half. Now I've got to get THAT picture out of my head.

Too bad it isn't later in the year. There is another event that could be added. Cool

A geocacher's nighmare: able to find hundreds of hidden boxes all over the world, yet can only find one sock when unloading the clothes dryer.

Bumping this up to remind everyone to make plans to attend what will be a major fun Geocache event.

Don't say you can't, say you'll try.

First let me say that kilts may be worn … and after the rest of us are done pointing and laughing, we’ll probably let you join in the reindeer games Razz

Next, start flexing those geocaching muscles – the event has been published. Check out the cache page and the website for details. We’ll start pre-registering people on May 5th so start thinking about the events you’d like to participate in.

Now, I’d also like to call for some volunteers. We need judges. I’d like to get 5-6 people to judge. At this point, I’m thinking judges will alternate judging on events in order to keep things moving (although I reserve the right to switch things around as we refine things). So if you’d like to be a judge, please post here or send me a PM.
