Okay, it's at an REI somewhere. Um, could someone at least post which one and the time the meeting begins. Am trying to make some plans and there's still no meeting page posted on gc.com.

Thanks much!

Well... we're experimenting with a hybrid combination of the "Event" and the "Mystery/Surprise" cache categories. Wink

For some clues, take a look at three of the previous January locations and times:

Jan. '05 Jan. '04
Jan. '02

Since the Buford REI store is too small it would have to be one of the above.

Seriously, Mtn-man is coordinating this with REI, and I'm sure is wrapped up with the holidays. I trust he'll be posting the Jan. '06 Event cache page soon. I think that for planning purposes you can look to it most likely being one of the above at 2pm on January 14th.

I was hoping for somewhere with more room than previous Jan meetings. Hopefully something can be worked out.

Sorry. For Christmas this year I got the flu. I have been out since Saturday and have not looked at my computer until tonight. I am going to meet with REI to make sure we have enough room. I've told them we don't want to be in their way and we want enough room not to have people standing. They say they can handle it, but I am going over to meet with the new coordinator personally. I'm feeling better today and will be going to work tomarrow.

We ended up putting off the trip to the parents house until the weekend coming up. Frown

The Jan. 06 meeting is currently scheduled to be at the same location as the Jan. 05 meeting - the Perimeter/Dunwoody REI store. We're holding classes at all three REI stores tonight and tommorrow night, so should know for sure soon.

Hey Erik....I was told tonight by the lady working the GPS School that it will be at the Atlanta location off 85 and Clairmont.

You should still confirm but maybe a little firmer answer than we had before.

Yep, thanks Kenneth. The event cache page now reflects that update.

quote:
1800 NE Expressway, Atlanta, GA 30329. This is actually the access road on the west side of the Interstate.

Store is located about 4 miles inside the I-285 perimeter on the access road for I-85, between Clairmont and North Druid Hills.

From I-85: exit at Clairmont coming from either direction. Take the access road southwest toward downtown. Store is about 1/4 mile straight ahead, on right.

I'll work out a deal with you.
I'll hold your wallet and purses for $20 each.

Hey...for most of you, that would save you ALOT of money. Wink

My wife, Rainbow, was at the REI near the Mall of GA last night and overheard a salesperson talking to a customer about geocaching. He was telling him all about how interesting geocaching was and then mentioned that there used to be this really cool geocache right there near/at/by the store (he actually said the location, but I don't know the current status of the cache, so I didn't want to post a spoiler).

Somehow, it just seems funny to hear folks out and about talking about geocaching nowadays.

Yep, it was Erik's cache CACHE @ REI @ MOG.
Kept getting muggled.

I think some glue, caulk, and a chain could've worked to prevent that. Fool Laugh

We should all encourage him to replace it, better....faster...stronger.

Funny you should mention that. I was there last night scouting out the location, and saw nice new shiney padlocks on all the boxes. Hopefully that has no relation to the cache I had there.

I think it would be on the way for you... try Driving Miss Daisy. It was a fun little multi in an interesting location (for an urban cache that is).

There are two caches somewhat to the North that you might like.

Cache Fishing? by YellowJacket

and Tower of Babel by me.
You might want to print out the pages for mine as PDAs don't always get it all.

One of the classic urban caches WiseAshe is not too far away. I would also second the two that reepicheep listed.

The folks that created the GA Stone Mountain Geocoin have given us a couple to auction off to help raise some money for the GGA. During the meeting we will auction one off to the highest bidder. Bring some extra cash if you are interested, and the bidding should be fun!
