True. If you wait for consensus, a lot of the time, it will NEVER get done! Smile

I managed to pick up an actual cache in WVA, PA, NJ, & Del. Four new states - Yay!

Thanks for all your votes of confidence!
And thanks to MMoose for the reminder of my term duties as SC member...which actually doesn't begin until TOMORROW!
I have PM'd the Moose and asked him to help run the voting process as a couple of JBzHOW caches are nominees and, um, well, you know.

Well done JB....I (as usual) have been watching all of this from the sideline and wonderin why some people let the little things in life bother them so much.

Thanks for your VOLUNTEER service to the GGA! (Same goes for all of the SC members)

Happy Gnu Deer! Fool

Because almost everything once started as a little thing.
At one time Geocaching was a little thing, just one container hid in the woods.

People care about the things that matter to them regardless of how big or small.
God help us the day no one cares about the little things.

Now you referred particularly to letting it bother them.
That I wished people didn't do, but it is human nature.

reepicheep....counting down to the New Year!

It is a three (3) YEAR commitment for their term in office.

The SC does not govern but serves its members through a process of consensus.
As a SC member you are no longer an individual but the voice of six.
You are required to attend as many GGA meeting as possible but a minimum of 6 per year is required.
You will be required to set up, hold and manage two (2) GGA meetings per year.
Monitor GGA Forums. Close any inappropriate or out of control discussions. Delete any outside advertising.
Comment appropriately in any forums remembering you are a voice of six
Take a level headed and natural approach to all issues that my arise
Listen and respond to issues, ideas and suggestions of the membership and pass the information along to the SC as a whole for action.
Work with other SC members in a consensus format to resolve any issues or concerns
Work with local, State and Federal agencies and groups to promote the GGA and Geocaching.
Demonstrate a Positive attitude at all times when representing GGA
Perform all duties that may be assigned to you. Examples, Keeping minutes of the GGA meetings, Record Keeping, New Member Welcome Letter, Member Newsletter.
You may be asked to contribute cash to cover short falls in donations to cover items like meeting space rent, GGA Board expense, prize expense or other ad hoc expenses.
Keep all SC members informed of your actions

---------------------------
As the new SC member you may wish to review the guidelines you agreed to before you ran for the SC. Being the Big Kahuna is efficient for making decisions but seems to create some animosity. No criticism but collaberation and consultation with others may help prevent some misunderstandings and hard feelings.

Just goes to show being on the SC is no easy task. Good luck and have a happy New Year.

M. Moose

And by taking this fairly extensive project on, taking responsibility for doing it as fairly as possible and catching the flack that's bound to come from somewhere, JB wronged someone where, how and by whom's definition? I'm just trying to get the rules figured out. By taking it on his own, imagine how hard he'll work where needed on other projects.

Like I said Kenneth/Reepicheap...I'll go back to the sidelines and just watch others throw stones, but EVERYTHING is life is so much better if your glass is half full instead of half empty.

Happy New Year everyone and Happy Caching!

A very good saying.

I've just recently learned that I'm more concerned with what's in my glass than how full it is. Not sure if there is a proverb/saying regarding that.

Well it's 2006 JB, welcome officially as a member of the S/C. Top Hat
I'm sorry if you feel you became a target so early in your tenture.
I forget who has the signature, but 'what doesn't kill you will make you stronger'.

I like your style already...take those whose energies are directed toward you and use it to your advantage. I bet there are some martial arts instructors out there who would be proud. Smile
I'll remember that in the future if I have issues with how you handle things. Wink

I'm working on securing a non-biased vote counter as we speak.
I'd thought about doing it myself and MMoose said he'd be happy to help, but getting an outsider to tally the vote seems much more kosher.

Meanwhile here's the updated link with a tenative voting format. Can everybody see it OK?

I'm hoping to start the vote later this week and run it for 10 days. How's that sound to y'all?

That all looks/sounds great. Good job!
The only suggestion I would make is to give each geocache a unique number. Start at 1 and continue all the way down to 172, regardless of category. It might make it a little easier to tabulate.

BTW - I know of an unbiased potential counter if you need one. He even has Top-Secret clearance for the NAVY in DC.

I can reach the page, but would suggest staying away from RED as a font color.
It is very hard for those with red/green color blindness to distinguish it from other dark fonts.
