A cacher in my area is organizing an all day caching run on Lake Lanier. I offered to post something here to get the word out. Here's what she asked me to post... ============================================================= 07/24/11 - Day of Lake Geos!!! On 05/24/08... Smiling in Acworth, Shelleyski and Layinlow completed 24 Lake Geos in one day! On 07/10/10... Da Posse, annamartin, beldredge, ClanMcCall, doctor mole and Leafer54 found 25 Lake Caches! Are you a hard-core geocacher? Do you have it in you to spend a fun day on the sparkling waters of Lanier... to try for 26 geos in a day (or more)? Do you look out over the lake waters knowing that there are geos out there that you cannot reach? I am putting together a full day of finding geos on the Lanier... to get lots of smileys!!! Contact me if you would you like to join in on my boat? Or you have a boat and want to join in as a flotilla. These are a mere few of the geos on the "to find" list: GCVAYN Sunset Point GC20 Marooned (Hidden 07/17/2000) GCK27W Cache 22 GCP8EN June 18, 2005 Send me an email if you are interested... I can send you the complete list and details about the day of lake geos! Cherie (aka Dewettes) & Megan (Megster66) CherieDew@live.com WakeboardLanier

I'm certainly interested! However, it might be a bit redundant, and I already have plans that day. I'll actually be on the lake! But not caching...

Thought I would post and update on how things went with the Lake Lanier cache run we did Sunday. It all started like this. Hi All, It was such a pleasure to meet everyone and spend an absolute fabulous day on the lake... what a beautiful day with lots of smiles and smileys! I must apologize... I thought we had only found 20 geos... but have realized that I miss labeled #15 when it should have been 17... so we got 22! Even though we fell short of our target of 26... I would not have changed a thing (well... maybe me getting stung, Haffy loosing his glasses, Barney getting his GPS unit wet, forgetting my GPS power cord, and Megan's feet getting cut up) Not sure everyone knows how the Day of Lake Geos started... Thought I would share with you!!! It started with a posting by Loch Cache... July 6 by Loch Cache (1808 found) Looking for help on this one. I am going to be in the area on July 24 and would really like to get this cache. Since I am flying in from Boston and renting a car to do my caching, I don't think I can check a canoe as carry on luggage. If there is any cacher in the area who would be willing to help me out with a canoe or a kayak (or even a power boat) please contact me through my profile. * Dewettes contacted Loch Cache via GeoCaching.com... * Dewettes contacted WakeBoardLanier asking if he wanted to join in on the lake geos or if he knew anyone that would want to join in * WakeBoardLanier contacted various geocachers and posted on GGA forum * The "3 hour tour" was set in motion... with Haffy naming us The Castaway Crew The Castaway Crew... The Dewettes (Cherie & Megan) How is that for a day of caching? Thanks to Wakboard Lanier for originally posting on the site. It was a long and exhausting day for all of us but well worth the effort and I got to make 6 new geocaching friends. We ended up anchoring a few yards offshore for each island and jumping in and swimming to all the islands. We had a 24 ft Triton so we couldn't get too close. Thanks to the Dewetts for making this all possible. Love you gals. 1st find was made at approximately 8:20 am and the last one at approximately 9:30 pm a long day for sure. A perfect morning to head out onto Lanier from Little Hall Park The end to a perfect day. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Haffy,

Wow!! Sounds like a lot of fun was had by all. Being boat challenged, TeamSheppard is always on the hunt for anyone who might be up for some lake fun. I know another cacher that would join us at the drop of a hat as well so... If anyone ever decides to get a lake run going again, hit us up, we would love to cache the lake with you.
